Segments allow you to automatically categorize fans based on their behavior and engagement level. Each segment type uses different criteria to group fans.

New fans

Description

Fans you have never messaged. These are subscribers who joined but haven’t received any communication from you yet.

Settings

  • No additional parameters required
  • Automatically detected based on message history

Use cases

  • First contact with new subscribers
  • Welcome messages and onboarding
  • Initial engagement campaigns

Number of messages

Description

Fans grouped by total reply count. This segment helps identify engagement levels based on how many times a fan has responded to your messages.

Settings

Example segments

  • 0-5 replies: “Beginners” - New to conversations
  • 6-20 replies: “Active” - Regularly engaged fans
  • 21+ replies: “VIP” - Highly engaged superfans

Spending segments

Description

Fans grouped by total spending amount. Categorize subscribers based on how much they’ve spent on tips, PPV, and other purchases.

Example segments

  • 00-50: “Economy” - Budget-conscious fans
  • 5151-200: “Medium” - Regular spenders
  • $201+: “Premium” - High-value customers

Lost contacts

Description

Fans who haven’t replied for a selected number of days. Use this segment to identify and re-engage inactive subscribers.

Creating segments

To create a new segment:
  1. Navigate to Fan Lists in the sidebar
  2. Click Add Segment
  3. Select the segment type
  4. Configure the parameters
  5. Save your segment
Segments update automatically as fan behavior changes.
