Introduction

Auto-Update is a feature that automatically keeps your AgencyKey desktop application up to date with the latest version. This feature is only available in the desktop application (not the web version). Benefits:
  • Always have the latest features and improvements
  • Security patches applied automatically
  • No need to manually download and install updates

How auto-update works

Automatic checking

The application checks for updates automatically:
  • At startup — 5 seconds after the application launches
  • Periodically — every 10 minutes while the app is running
These checks happen in the background and don’t interrupt your work.

When an update is found

  1. A notification appears: “Update Available”
  2. The dialog shows the new version number (e.g., “Update to v2.4.1”) and explains that it will be downloaded in the background
  3. Download starts automatically in the background
  4. You can continue working normally

When download is complete

  1. A dialog appears: “Update Ready”
  2. The dialog shows the current and new version numbers
  3. You have two options:
    • Restart Now — Install the update immediately
    • In 5 Minutes — The app will automatically restart and install the update in 5 minutes

macOS indicators

On macOS, you’ll see visual indicators:
  • The Dock icon displays an “Update” badge when an update is available
  • The Dock icon bounces when the update is ready to install

Manual update check

You can manually check for updates at any time:
  1. Open the application menu
  2. Click “Check for Updates”
  3. A dialog will show the result:
    • “Update Available” — with version number and download option
    • “No Updates” — “You are using the latest version.”

What gets updated

Each update may include:
  • New features and improvements
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements
  • Security patches
  • User interface enhancements

Important information

  • Updates download in the background without interrupting your work
  • Your data is preserved during updates
  • Account sessions remain active after updating
  • If you choose Restart Now, the app restarts immediately
  • If you choose In 5 Minutes, the app will automatically restart after the countdown

Troubleshooting

Update not working?

Possible causes:
  • No internet connection
  • Update server temporarily unavailable
  • Antivirus software blocking the download
Solutions:
  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try checking for updates manually
  3. Temporarily disable antivirus and try again
  4. Download the latest version manually from our website
