# Marketing Report Periods

> Choose links, fan cohorts, and payment dates independently for Tracking and Trial Links

**Tracking Links** and **Trial Links** let you answer three separate questions: which links to include, which fans to select, and which payments to measure. The same controls work in the model table and **All creators** summary.

## Set up a report

### 1. Choose the links

Open **Analytics → Tracking Links** or **Analytics → Trial Links**. Select a model or **All creators**. Set **Link creation dates** to include links created during that window. Leave it unrestricted to include links regardless of creation date.

### 2. Choose the fan group

Set **First subscription to the creator** to select fans by their first subscription to that particular model. A fan who first subscribed before the window does not become new again by returning through another link. An unknown first-subscription date cannot satisfy a bounded window.

### 3. Choose the payments

Set **Payment dates** to measure payments made by the selected fans to that model during a separate window. This can be later than their first subscription. It does not by itself reduce the number of selected fans.

For example, leave link creation unrestricted, select fans who first subscribed on October 1–7, then measure their payments on October 8–14. This answers how that fan group performed afterwards, including through older links.

Dates use the agency's reporting time zone. End dates are inclusive; an empty boundary leaves that side unrestricted.

## Read the result

| Value | How to interpret it |
| - | - |
| **Subscriptions** | Selected unique fans for the model, not a count of payments |
| **Clicks** | Lifetime clicks of the selected links; fan and payment dates do not turn them into period clicks |
| **Ad spend** | Current recorded cost of the selected links, not historical spend at the report date |
| **Revenue** | Recorded revenue from payments by the selected fans in the payment window |
| **Profit** | Selected revenue minus the current recorded costs |

Tracking Links supports a total cost or a per-subscriber cost; Trial Links records a total cost. For a per-subscriber cost, the original tracking link's lifetime subscriber count is used to calculate the recorded cost. Narrowing fan or payment dates does not automatically prorate that cost.

## Use the combined total

A fan can appear under several links. Their payments can therefore repeat in individual link rows. Each model's summary and the **Total** row in its link table deduplicate selected fans across matching links, including links on other pages. Use that combined result instead of adding row revenue or averaging row percentages.

In **All creators**, model rows do not deduplicate people between models. This summary has no agency-wide Total row.

<Note>
  A dash means that a value is unavailable, not zero. The current fan-group report does not provide row dynamics, today deltas, message-stage counts, or cross-model metrics. It has no All fans / Unique fans switch. These missing values do not prove that no activity occurred.
</Note>

## Common issues

* **No matching fans:** check the first-subscription window and unknown dates; changing payment dates alone does not change the group size.
* **Revenue is zero but fans are present:** the selected group may have no recorded payments in the payment window, including free or non-paying fans.
* **Rows add up to more than Total:** overlapping link audiences can repeat payments; use the deduplicated summary.
* **Profit changes unexpectedly:** compare the payment window with the current full recorded costs.
* **Recent activity is missing:** allow synchronization and check the dates, selected models, and your access.
